Using advanced MRI to study Parkinson's disease
7.0T Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study of Parkinson's Disease
This study is testing advanced MRI technology to see how it can help us understand the differences in brain images of people with early-stage Parkinson's disease compared to healthy individuals.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the imaging characteristics of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) using 7-Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The study will detect subtle changes in patients with early-stage PD compared to healthy individuals and investigate the different imaging characteristics among various subtypes of PD. Additionally, long-term follow-up will assess the correlation between imaging changes and clinical score alterations in PD patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with Parkinson's disease by a neurologist specializing in movement disorders.
Not a fit: Patients with other brain disorders, psychiatric disorders affecting cognitive function, or contraindications to MRI may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to the identification of neuroimaging biomarkers that improve the diagnosis and management of Parkinson's disease.
How similar studies have performed: While studies using advanced MRI techniques in neurodegenerative diseases have shown promise, this specific approach with 7T MRI in Parkinson's disease is relatively novel.
