What this trial studies

This observational study aims to enhance the preoperative assessment of gastric cancer by evaluating the effectiveness of multi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) and advanced CT techniques, including Dual-/Multi-energy CT and photon-counting Detector CT (PCD-CT). By accurately predicting risk stratification, treatment response, and survival prognosis, the study seeks to inform clinical treatment decisions and ultimately improve patient outcomes. Participants will include patients with confirmed gastric cancer who are undergoing surgical procedures. The study will analyze imaging results to determine their impact on management strategies.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients with a pathological biopsy-confirmed diagnosis of gastric cancer who are scheduled for radical gastrectomy.

Not a fit: Patients who refuse to sign informed consent or have poor-quality imaging that cannot provide clear results may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more accurate diagnoses and better treatment planning for patients with gastric cancer.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing advanced imaging techniques for cancer diagnosis have shown promising results, indicating potential success for this approach.

Eligibility criteria

Show full inclusion / exclusion criteria
Inclusion Criteria:

1. Pathological biopsy confirmed gastric cancer;
2. Surgery: patients undergoing radical gastrectomy. Patients undergoing exploratory abdominal surgery or palliative tumor resection were still included in the study when peritoneal metastasis or adjacent organ invasion was identified intraoperatively and radical surgical resection was not possible.

Exclusion Criteria:

1. Refusal or inability to sign informed consent;
2. CT or MRI images are poor or the focus is small and CT images are not clear;
3. Patients with other tumors complicated with patients with important organ dysfunction.
