What this trial studies
This observational study evaluates the quality of surgical margins achieved during orthopedic surgeries for musculoskeletal neoplasms using navigated intraoperative CT imaging. It involves patients who require surgical resection or amputation due to their condition, with preoperative planning discussed in a multidisciplinary team. The study aims to assess how these advanced imaging techniques can improve surgical outcomes without introducing any new interventions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients of any age with musculoskeletal neoplasms located in complex anatomical sites who are scheduled for surgical intervention.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to undergo pre- and post-treatment assessments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to improved surgical outcomes and reduced recurrence rates for patients with musculoskeletal tumors.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing advanced imaging techniques in surgical oncology have shown promising results, suggesting potential for success in this approach.
