What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a voice analysis smartphone application designed to detect anxiety and depression in patients undergoing cardiac rehabilitation after a myocardial infarction. Participants will use the app alongside their rehabilitation program to see if it enhances their recovery outcomes compared to those who only receive standard rehabilitation. The study focuses on integrating technology into traditional care to provide a more comprehensive approach to mental health in cardiac patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals enrolled in a cardiac rehabilitation program within three months of hospital discharge who own a smartphone and can communicate in English.
Not a fit: Patients currently receiving treatment for anxiety or depression, or those with severe psychiatric conditions, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to improved mental health outcomes for patients recovering from heart issues.
How similar studies have performed: While the integration of technology in mental health management is gaining traction, this specific approach using voice analysis in cardiac rehabilitation is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
