Using a severity questionnaire for allergic rhinitis during ENT visits
Implementation of an Allergic Rhinitis Severity Questionnaire in ENT Consultations
University Hospital, Strasbourg, France · NCT07315945
This project will try a short severity questionnaire during ENT follow-ups for adults with allergic rhinitis to see if patients find it acceptable and if the scores reliably reflect symptom severity.

What this trial studies
This observational project introduces the SCST (French CSMS) and SNOT-22 questionnaires into routine ENT follow-up visits for adults with allergic rhinitis at Hautepierre University Hospital. Patients complete the questionnaires during consultations while clinicians record clinical findings and management decisions. Investigators will analyze acceptability, internal consistency, reliability, and responsiveness of the scores and examine how questionnaire results correlate with clinical status over time. The aim is to determine whether routine use yields consistent, usable data for patient care and for pooling in future research.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults (18 years and older) who are followed at the ENT department of Hautepierre University Hospital for allergic rhinitis are ideal candidates.
Not a fit: Asymptomatic individuals or people not needing ENT follow-up are unlikely to receive benefit from participating.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, routine use of a validated severity questionnaire could make follow-up visits more consistent and help clinicians tailor treatments while generating comparable data for better long-term care.
How similar studies have performed: Similar patient-reported severity scores (such as CSMS/SCST and SNOT-22) have been used and partially validated in prior work, but local acceptability and detailed statistical properties still need confirmation.
