What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness of a mobile health application designed for managing gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in improving patient compliance and satisfaction. Pregnant women diagnosed with GDM will be randomly assigned to either use the app for self-management or receive standard follow-up care. The primary focus is on measuring patient compliance through blood glucose monitoring and assessing overall pregnancy outcomes. The study aims to enhance the management of GDM through innovative technology.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are pregnant women diagnosed with gestational diabetes from 13 to 34 weeks of gestation who are at least 18 years old and have a singleton pregnancy.
Not a fit: Patients with pre-gestational diabetes, multiple pregnancies, or those without a compatible smartphone may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the management of gestational diabetes, leading to better health outcomes for both mothers and their babies.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results using mobile health applications for chronic disease management, indicating potential success for this approach.
