What this trial studies

This randomized controlled study aims to evaluate the effects of a cycle ergometer equipped with biofeedback on deep sensation in elderly patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis. Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving the cycle ergometer intervention along with standard treatments, and a control group receiving standard treatments only. The study will assess various outcomes, including knee vibration sense and joint position sense, before and after a three-week treatment period. Measurements will include demographic information, osteoarthritis indices, and physical activity levels.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are elderly individuals diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis, specifically those with a Kellgren-Lawrence score between 1-3.

Not a fit: Patients with previous knee surgery, diabetes mellitus, thyroid disease, visual deficits, gait disorders, mental disabilities, or neuropathy may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could enhance deep sensation and overall function in elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis.

How similar studies have performed: While similar approaches have been explored, this specific combination of interventions with biofeedback is relatively novel.
