Using a bone graft to prevent ridge loss after removing multiple teeth
Biomaterial to Counteract Ridge Reduction Following the Removal of Multiple Adjacent Teeth. A Prospective Randomized Controlled Study.
This study is testing whether using special bone graft materials can help people who have lost multiple teeth keep their jawbone from shrinking and make it easier to place dental implants later on.

What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of using Bio-Oss Collagen and Bio-Gide to counteract bone loss following the extraction of multiple adjacent teeth. It is a multicenter, randomized trial that aims to evaluate the effectiveness of these materials in maintaining ridge dimensions and facilitating implant placement after six months of healing. The study will enroll 40 participants who require two or more implants due to the removal of adjacent teeth, measuring ridge changes and bone loss over time. The goal is to provide insights into optimal grafting techniques for improved dental outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals needing two or more implants after the extraction of adjacent teeth with intact extraction sockets.
Not a fit: Patients with uncontrolled systemic diseases, untreated rampant caries, or those unable to comply with follow-up may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve bone preservation and implant success rates for patients undergoing multiple tooth extractions.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored bone grafting techniques, this specific approach to multiple adjacent extractions is relatively novel.
Eligibility criteria
