What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the effects of a 24-week urban farming intervention on the physical, mental, and social well-being of older adults aged 50 and above. Participants will engage in hands-on urban farming activities, including planting and social interactions, while their health and psychosocial measures will be assessed before, immediately after, and six months post-intervention. The study aims to determine if the intervention leads to lower stress levels, improved quality of life, and cost-effectiveness compared to a control group. Data collection will include physical examinations, questionnaires, and the use of Fitbit trackers to monitor physical activity.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are ambulant individuals aged 50 to 80 who reside in Singapore and are willing to participate in the intervention.
Not a fit: Patients with disabilities affecting mobility or severe medical conditions that could interfere with participation may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly enhance the quality of life and reduce stress levels in older adults.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with similar interventions, suggesting potential for success in this approach.
