What this trial studies
This study aims to develop an enhanced version of a smart-clothes home care model that includes an interactive app for family caregivers. Over three years, the first six months will focus on creating the upgraded model, which will monitor various health indicators and provide alerts to caregivers. The subsequent two and a half years will involve a randomized controlled trial with 60 families, comparing the upgraded system's effectiveness against routine care. Outcomes will assess caregiver preparedness, quality of life, and other health-related metrics.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals diagnosed with dementia who can walk independently or with assistance and have a family caregiver aged 20 or older.
Not a fit: Patients with terminal illnesses or severe uncontrolled diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this system could significantly improve the quality of care and support for patients with dementia and their family caregivers.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using technology for dementia care, but this specific approach with smart clothing is relatively novel.
