What this trial studies
This research explores how patients with chronic pelvic pain perceive different treatment options and whether a web-based educational program influences these perceptions. The program includes self-guided modules on cognitive and behavioral strategies, acupressure, physical activity, and pelvic floor physical therapy. The study aims to identify factors that shape patients' treatment preferences, focusing on their past experiences and trusted medical information sources. Participants will be recruited from the Chronic Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Referral Clinic at the University of Michigan.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals experiencing moderate to severe chronic pelvic pain for at least six months who are scheduled for a new patient visit at the clinic.
Not a fit: Patients with severe physical impairments that prevent participation in an internet-based program may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance patient-centered care by aligning treatment options with patient preferences for chronic pelvic pain.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies exploring patient preferences in chronic pain management have shown promising results.
Eligibility criteria

Exclusion Criteria: * Severe physical impairment precluding participating in internet-based program (for example, complete blindness or deafness) * Prior care within the Chronic Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Referral Clinic within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan for treatment of chronic pelvic pain (seen previously but meets criteria for new patient visit because \> 3 year interval since last clinic visit).
