What this trial studies
This project aims to explore how treatment motivation develops among youth and their parents during and after Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) in a juvenile justice setting. The study will investigate various factors that influence this motivation, including client characteristics and contextual elements. It will utilize a Multiple Case Experimental Design to assess the impact of treatment motivation on retention and the achievement of therapy goals. The research will involve both short-term and long-term residents of a juvenile justice center and their families.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are youth entering residential Multidimensional Family Therapy in a juvenile justice center along with their parents.
Not a fit: Patients who reside more than an hour's drive from the juvenile justice center after detention may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance treatment retention and outcomes for youth in forensic care by improving understanding of treatment motivation.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that Multidimensional Family Therapy can effectively motivate youth and parents in forensic settings, indicating potential for success in this approach.
