What this trial studies

This observational study aims to explore the relationship between motor fluctuations and nonmotor fluctuations in individuals diagnosed with early-stage Parkinson's disease. It will track how many patients experience these fluctuations during a three-year follow-up period and determine whether motor fluctuations occur before or after nonmotor fluctuations. The study will involve participants who meet specific diagnostic criteria and are not experiencing significant fluctuations at the start. Data will be collected over a three-year recruitment and follow-up period.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals diagnosed with early-stage Parkinson's disease who do not currently experience motor or nonmotor fluctuations.

Not a fit: Patients with dementia or those who refuse to participate may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of symptom progression in Parkinson's disease, potentially leading to improved management strategies.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on motor and nonmotor symptoms in Parkinson's disease, this specific temporal relationship has not been extensively explored, making this approach relatively novel.
