What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on young-onset rectal cancer patients, specifically those under 50 years of age, to assess their quality of life and psychosocial status post-surgery. It aims to gather comprehensive clinical data, including preoperative evaluations and postoperative outcomes, to understand the unique challenges faced by this demographic. The study will utilize multi-questionnaires to evaluate various aspects of life affected by rectal cancer, including mental health, social interactions, and physical well-being. By highlighting the specific needs of young patients, the study seeks to inform better care strategies and support systems.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 18 to 50 who have been diagnosed with rectal cancer and have undergone preoperative evaluations.
Not a fit: Patients with other malignant tumors, inflammatory gastrointestinal diseases, or preoperative mental illness may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved support and treatment strategies for young rectal cancer patients, enhancing their quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While there is growing recognition of young-onset rectal cancer, this specific focus on quality of life and psychosocial status in this age group is relatively novel and has not been extensively studied.
