Understanding the link between migraine and heart disease through blood analysis

A Proteomic Analysis for Understanding the Link Between Migraine and Cardiovascular Disease

Observational Centro Cardiologico Monzino · NCT06372509

What this trial studies

This multicenter, prospective observational study aims to analyze the relationship between migraine and cardiovascular disease by collecting data from 90 patients aged 25 to 60 years, both with and without migraine. Participants will be classified into two groups: those with migraine with aura and those who are migraine-free. The study will involve a comprehensive clinical assessment and targeted proteomic evaluation of blood samples to identify proteins associated with cardiovascular risk factors and diseases. The goal is to uncover potential correlations that could enhance understanding of the interplay between migraine and cardiovascular health.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 25 to 60 years who are hospitalized for non-coronary artery diseases and have either migraine with aura or are migraine-free.

Not a fit: Patients under 25 or over 60 years old, or those with acute myocardial infarction or severe heart conditions, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights that improve the management of patients with migraines and cardiovascular diseases.

How similar studies have performed: While the relationship between migraine and cardiovascular disease has been explored, this specific proteomic approach is relatively novel and may provide new insights.
