Understanding the effects of occupational exposure to PAH mixtures

Biological Signatures (Proteomics, Metabolomics and Genotoxicity) Associated With Occupational Exposure to PAH Mixtures and Relation With Exposure Biomarkers: Support for the Derivation of Biological Limit Values

Not applicable Interventional University Hospital, Grenoble · NCT05679544

What this trial studies

This research project investigates the biological effects of occupational exposure to complex mixtures of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs). It aims to identify early biomarkers of exposure and health effects related to PAH exposure, focusing on metabolic disturbances, protein deficiencies, and genotoxicity. The study will characterize the molecular and metabolic impacts of PAH exposure and link these effects to biological levels of various PAH metabolites. By improving our understanding of these pathways, the research seeks to enhance biomonitoring efforts and inform health risk assessments.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 18 and older who have been occupationally exposed to PAHs for more than three months.

Not a fit: Patients with obesity, existing cancers, or metabolic diseases may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to the identification of new biomarkers that improve health monitoring for individuals exposed to PAHs.

How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing research into PAH exposure, this study aims to explore novel biomarkers and mechanisms, making it a potentially unique contribution to the field.
