Understanding the coronary circulation in Takotsubo syndrome
Characterisation of the Biochemical Profile and Physiology of the Coronary Circulation in Takotsubo Syndrome

What this trial studies
This observational study includes consenting patients over 18 years old diagnosed with Takotsubo syndrome to evaluate the incidence of coronary microcirculation dysfunction. It aims to correlate this dysfunction with clinical presentations and prognosis. Secondary endpoints include assessing in-hospital mortality, cardiogenic shock prevalence, and the relationship between biomarkers and microvascular dysfunction. The study will follow patients for one month and one year after enrollment, which lasts for two years.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older diagnosed with Takotsubo syndrome.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old or those who refuse to provide informed consent will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the understanding and management of Takotsubo syndrome, potentially leading to better patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on Takotsubo syndrome, this specific focus on coronary microcirculation dysfunction is relatively novel.
