What this trial studies
This study aims to explore the impact of stigma on pediatric cancer patients and their caregivers by developing two clinical tools to identify and measure stigma in diverse cultural settings. Researchers will conduct a systematic literature review to catalog existing stigma measurement tools and create new, patient-centered instruments. The tools will be translated into Spanish and Arabic to ensure cultural relevance and accuracy. Participants will include children aged 8-17.9 years who are active cancer patients or survivors, along with their adult caregivers.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include children aged 8 to 17.9 years who are currently undergoing treatment for cancer or are survivors, as well as their adult parents or caregivers.
Not a fit: Patients who do not have cancer or are outside the specified age range may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of stigma in pediatric cancer populations, enhancing support for patients and caregivers.
How similar studies have performed: While stigma in healthcare has been studied, this specific approach focusing on pediatric cancer stigma in diverse cultural settings is relatively novel.
