What this trial studies
This observational study aims to gather clinical data on patients with sleep apnea syndromes in Korea. Participants suspected of having sleep apnea will be recruited based on specific symptoms and will undergo polysomnography or respiratory polygraphy for diagnosis. Those diagnosed with sleep apnea will be followed regularly, while those without the condition will only have a baseline visit. Blood samples will be collected from participants who consent to contribute to further research.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals exhibiting symptoms of sleep apnea such as snoring, excessive daytime sleepiness, and difficulty sleeping.
Not a fit: Patients who do not exhibit symptoms of sleep apnea or have an apnea-hypopnea index of less than 5/hour may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of sleep apnea in the Korean population, leading to better diagnosis and management strategies.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been numerous studies on sleep apnea globally, this specific focus on the Korean population may provide novel insights.
