What this trial studies
This observational study aims to investigate the variations in dermatologic diseases among individuals from diverse ancestry backgrounds. Conducted across multiple NHS hospitals in England, the study will assess the characteristics of skin conditions and the language patients use to describe their ailments. By gathering this data, the researchers hope to identify disparities in dermatological care and improve understanding of these conditions in different populations.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals aged 18 and above with dermatologist-diagnosed visible active dermatological diseases.
Not a fit: Patients without any dermatological disease or those who lack the capacity to consent will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more equitable dermatological care and tailored treatment approaches for diverse patient populations.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies addressing health disparities, this specific focus on dermatologic diseases across ancestry backgrounds is relatively novel.
