What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess sensory processing anomalies in neurotypical children, as well as those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It focuses on auditory and tactile processing, utilizing a variety of tests including psychophysics, neuroimaging, and quantitative measures of sensory organs. The goal is to elucidate the physiological underpinnings of sensory anomalies, which could enhance clinical decision-making regarding diagnostics and treatment responses. By gathering reliable data on sensory processing, the study seeks to contribute to a better understanding of these neurodevelopmental disorders.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 8-15 years who are clinically diagnosed with ADHD, ASD, or are neurotypical.

Not a fit: Patients with a family history of schizophrenia or depression, or those with significant neurological or sensory impairments may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnostic and treatment strategies for children with sensory processing anomalies associated with ADHD and ASD.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in exploring sensory processing anomalies in similar populations, indicating that this approach is supported by existing research.
