Understanding posture control in patients with peripheral neuropathies
Synergic Control of Posture in Peripheral Neuropathies' Patients
This study is trying to understand how people with peripheral neuropathies control their posture compared to healthy individuals, and it will also test a rehabilitation program to see if it helps improve their stability.

What this trial studies
This multicenter observational study aims to characterize the organization of multi-muscle synergy in relation to postural stability in individuals with peripheral neuropathies compared to healthy age-matched subjects. The study will assess patients using neurological evaluations, nerve conduction studies, and quality of life measures. Participants will undergo postural evaluations during various tasks, and a rehabilitation program will be implemented for peripheral neuropathy patients to evaluate its effectiveness. The study will be conducted in two phases, with the first phase including both patients and healthy controls, and the second phase focusing solely on patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older suffering from peripheral neuropathy with a Total Neuropathy Score-clinical version greater than 4.
Not a fit: Patients with orthopedic or neurologic comorbidities that could affect postural control may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance rehabilitation strategies for patients with peripheral neuropathies, improving their postural stability and overall quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored postural control in various populations, this specific approach focusing on multi-muscle synergy in peripheral neuropathies is relatively novel.
