What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess pain, anxiety, and their impacts on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) in patients undergoing orthodontic treatment. Participants will be evaluated at different stages: before, during, and after treatment, using validated scales such as the Visual Analogue Scale for pain, the GAD-7 for anxiety, and the OHIP-14 for OHRQoL. The study will analyze the correlations between these factors and how they change over time. Data will be collected through self-administered questionnaires to gain insights into the patient experience throughout their orthodontic journey.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are orthodontic patients aged 18 to 60 with a clinical diagnosis of malocclusion.

Not a fit: Patients with systemic or psychological diseases, craniofacial deformities, or those who have previously received orthodontic treatment may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of the psychological and physical challenges faced by orthodontic patients, leading to improved patient care and treatment protocols.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored similar themes in orthodontics, indicating that understanding patient experiences can lead to better treatment outcomes, though this specific approach may be novel.
