Understanding outcomes in knee osteoarthritis patients receiving physical therapy
Exploring Biomechanics and Clinical Outcomes in Responders and Non-Responders to Physical Therapy Management for Knee Osteoarthritis
This study looks at how physical therapy helps people with knee osteoarthritis by comparing those who feel better to those who don’t, to find ways to improve treatment.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to investigate the biomechanics and clinical outcomes of patients with knee osteoarthritis who respond to physical therapy compared to those who do not. Participants will undergo a series of assessments, including demographic data collection, patient-reported questionnaires, clinical evaluations, and functional tests. A markerless motion capture system will be utilized to gather data without the need for physical markers on the body. The goal is to identify factors that differentiate responders from non-responders to improve treatment strategies.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis who experience moderate pain and can walk independently.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of significant lower limb surgery or neurological disorders may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the understanding of knee osteoarthritis treatment, leading to more effective physical therapy interventions.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on knee osteoarthritis and physical therapy, this specific approach using markerless motion capture is relatively novel.
