What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the attitudes, knowledge, self-efficacy, and behaviors of nurses regarding nutritional care for older adults. By utilizing an online survey, the study will gather data from nurses who have experience in caring for older patients, focusing on how these factors influence their ability to prevent and manage malnutrition. The findings are expected to highlight barriers and facilitators in delivering quality nutritional care, ultimately providing insights to improve nursing practices in this critical area.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are nurses aged 18 and older with full-time contracts and at least six months of experience in wards that care for older patients.
Not a fit: Nurses working in critical care or outpatient settings may not benefit from this study as their experiences may differ significantly from those in general wards.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the quality of nutritional care provided to older adults, potentially reducing malnutrition and its associated health risks.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited empirical evidence specifically addressing this relationship in nursing, similar studies have shown that improving knowledge and self-efficacy can enhance care quality in various healthcare settings.
