What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the diagnostic and therapeutic management of pure forms of Florid Lobular Carcinoma In Situ (FLCIS) and Pleomorphic Lobular Carcinoma In Situ (PLCIS) of the breast. It will collect retrospective data from multiple centers to address the challenges and controversies in managing these conditions, including diagnostic processes, therapeutic approaches, and recurrence factors. The study will also explore the necessity of adjuvant treatments and how surgical excision margins are handled.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 years or older with a histologic diagnosis of PLCIS and/or FLCIS of the breast.
Not a fit: Patients with classical lobular carcinoma in situ (CLCIS) or those with LCIS associated with invasive carcinoma may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more standardized and effective management strategies for patients with FLCIS and PLCIS.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be limited studies specifically addressing FLCIS and PLCIS, the approach of evaluating management strategies for specific breast conditions has shown promise in other similar contexts.
