What this trial studies

This observational study aims to gather data on the demographics, characteristics, and outcomes of male breast cancer patients at Methodist Health System. By focusing on cases of ductal carcinoma in situ and invasive lobular breast carcinoma, the study seeks to fill the gap in clinical data regarding male breast cancer, which is often managed based on female breast cancer data. The findings will help identify unique aspects of male breast cancer and potentially guide future treatment approaches.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are males aged 18 and older diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ or invasive lobular carcinoma.

Not a fit: Patients who are under 18, pregnant, breastfeeding, or incarcerated will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of male breast cancer, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While male breast cancer is rare and under-researched, previous studies have indicated the need for more focused research, suggesting that this approach is novel and necessary.
