Understanding LTBP4 in kidney fibrosis and cardiorenal syndrome

Molecular Mechanisms of Fibrillin/LTBP Superfamily in Renal Fibrosis and Cardiorenal

What this trial studies

This project aims to investigate the expression of LTBP4 in human renal fibrotic tissues. Investigators will collect residual renal tissues from patients with various causes of renal fibrosis and analyze the location and quantity of LTBP4 expression. The study seeks to establish a correlation between the severity of fibrosis and the expression levels of LTBP4 and other matrix proteins, providing insights into the molecular mechanisms involved in renal fibrosis and cardiorenal syndrome.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals with abnormal kidney function, proteinuria, or hematuria.

Not a fit: Patients without any signs of kidney dysfunction or related symptoms may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better understanding and potential new targets for treating renal fibrosis and cardiorenal syndrome.

How similar studies have performed: While this study focuses on LTBP4, similar investigations into molecular mechanisms of fibrosis have shown promise in understanding renal conditions.
