What this trial studies

This observational research project aims to analyze injury patterns among professional female ice hockey players who are permitted to body check. By identifying common injury types and mechanisms, the study seeks to enhance diagnosis and management strategies for these athletes. The findings could inform preventative measures in coaching, rule enforcement, and equipment improvements, ultimately aiming to reduce the incidence and severity of sports-related injuries. This research addresses a significant gap in sports medicine, focusing on female athletes in a high-risk sport.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are female athletes aged 16 and older who are registered players in the highest Swedish professional ice hockey league.

Not a fit: Patients under the age of 16 will not benefit from this study as they are excluded from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved injury prevention strategies and better health outcomes for female ice hockey players.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically on female ice hockey injuries, studies on injury epidemiology in other sports have shown success in informing prevention strategies.
