What this trial studies

This observational study aims to explore the epidemiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic methods, and treatment options for infectious anorectitis, particularly focusing on the role of Mycoplasma genitalium. Conducted at the Marie Thérèse Center, a leading proctology center in the Ile-de-France region, the study will analyze data from patients presenting with suspected anorectal infections. The collaboration with the clinical microbiology laboratory of the Saint Joseph Hospital Group will enhance the understanding of the microbiological aspects of these infections.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are French-speaking adults aged 18 and older who are being treated for suspected infectious sexually transmitted anorectitis.

Not a fit: Patients who are under guardianship, deprived of liberty, or object to the use of their data for research will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnosis and treatment strategies for patients suffering from anorectal infections.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific focus on Mycoplasma genitalium in anorectal infections is relatively novel, previous studies have shown success in understanding other sexually transmitted infections.
