What this trial studies
This study aims to better understand how the immune system responds to influenza vaccination in adults. Participants will receive the influenza vaccine and have their blood drawn at specific intervals to analyze lymphocyte responses. The goal is to identify factors that contribute to poor vaccine responses, which could inform future vaccination strategies. This is a Phase 4 interventional study conducted at the University of Pennsylvania.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are community-dwelling adults who require influenza vaccination as part of their standard care.
Not a fit: Patients with febrile illness, active malignancy, or those on immunosuppressing medications may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved vaccination strategies and better protection against influenza for patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored immune responses to vaccinations, but this specific approach to understanding influenza vaccination responses is less common.
