Understanding how stroke patients perceive their upper limb use during rehabilitation
Evolution of the Patient's Perception of the Use of the Upper Limb After a Stroke During Intensive Rehabilitation

What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on stroke rehabilitation, specifically examining the relationship between actual upper limb function and patients' perceptions of their ability to use their affected limb. It involves functional assessments to gather data on upper limb performance and the subjective experiences of patients. The goal is to better understand how patients view their participation in rehabilitation activities and how this perception may influence their recovery process.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals who have experienced their first stroke and have upper limb weakness as indicated by a specific NIHSS score.
Not a fit: Patients with a life expectancy of less than 12 months or those with severe pre-existing disabilities affecting arm function may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance rehabilitation strategies by aligning them more closely with patients' perceptions, potentially improving recovery outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is focused on patient perception, similar studies in rehabilitation have shown that understanding patient perspectives can lead to improved treatment outcomes.
