Understanding how proteins can predict blood pressure response in hypertensive patients undergoing renal denervation.

The Predictive Role of Proteomics in Blood Pressure Response of Hypertensive Patients Undergoing Renal Denervation.

Observational Hippocration General Hospital · NCT06208501

What this trial studies

This observational study investigates the role of proteomics in predicting blood pressure responses in hypertensive patients who are undergoing renal denervation, a minimally invasive procedure aimed at disrupting renal sympathetic nerves. The study aims to identify biomarkers that can reliably indicate which patients are likely to benefit from this treatment, as current response rates vary significantly. Patients will be monitored through urine samples for proteomic analysis and blood pressure measurements using both office and ambulatory methods. The goal is to enhance therapeutic outcomes by tailoring treatment based on individual biomarker profiles.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are hypertensive patients aged 18-80 who have been on standard antihypertensive medications for at least 8 weeks and have elevated blood pressure readings.

Not a fit: Patients with renal artery abnormalities, secondary hypertension, or those with certain comorbidities such as active cancer or severe renal impairment may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more personalized treatment strategies for hypertension, improving blood pressure control in patients undergoing renal denervation.

How similar studies have performed: While renal denervation has shown variable success in previous studies, this approach of using proteomics to predict treatment response is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
