What this trial studies
This observational study aims to improve dengue transmission models by integrating human mobility data with epidemiological information in Cienfuegos, Cuba. It will analyze historical dengue outbreak data from 2012 to 2025, focusing on areas with recurrent outbreaks and linking this to fine-grained mobility patterns and socio-spatial characteristics. The study will involve multiple data collection activities, including surveys of adults and students, to gather insights on mobility behaviors. The goal is to enhance the understanding of how human movement influences disease spread and improve prevention strategies.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are residents of Cienfuegos who are 19 years or older and can provide informed consent.
Not a fit: Patients who are below 19 or above 75 years old may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more accurate dengue transmission models, ultimately improving disease prevention strategies.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in integrating mobility data with disease modeling, suggesting this approach has potential.
