What this trial studies
This observational study aims to characterize the cognitive and behavioral profiles of patients admitted to stroke units who present with functional neurological disorders, which are often misdiagnosed as stroke. By focusing on individuals without evidence of neurological disease, the study seeks to gather data on their clinical profiles and outcomes. The research will involve assessing patients over 18 years old who have a neurological deficit but do not have a confirmed neurovascular condition. The findings could enhance understanding and management of these complex cases.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old who are admitted to stroke units with neurological deficits but no evidence of neurological disease.
Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under legal protection will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnosis and treatment strategies for patients with functional neurological disorders.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on similar studies, the focus on functional neurological disorders in stroke mimic patients is a relatively novel approach.
