What this trial studies

This observational study aims to explore the intentions of women of reproductive age to use modern contraception across four countries: Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Nigeria, and Pakistan. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study will gather quantitative data through surveys administered to women and men in their households, alongside qualitative interviews to gain deeper insights into the barriers and enablers affecting contraceptive use. The goal is to identify the proportion of women who intend to use family planning but are not currently using modern contraceptive methods and to understand the reasons behind this gap. The findings will inform interventions to support voluntary adoption of modern contraceptives.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are married women aged 15-49 who can provide informed consent and reside in the selected households.

Not a fit: Patients who are unmarried, outside the age range of 15-49, or unable to provide informed consent may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved family planning services and increased uptake of modern contraceptives, ultimately enhancing women's health and empowerment.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in understanding family planning behaviors and barriers, making this approach both relevant and necessary.
