What this trial studies
This observational study aims to improve understanding of treatment decisions regarding urinary diversion in bladder cancer patients by conducting in-depth interviews with patients and healthcare providers. The research team will use qualitative methods to gather personal thoughts, emotions, and experiences related to decision-making. The insights gained will help develop a patient decision aid to support individuals facing these choices. Additionally, the study will assess the determinants of decisions made by patients and urologists to identify support needs.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients undergoing or who have undergone urinary diversion specifically for bladder cancer and are under 90 years old.
Not a fit: Patients undergoing urinary diversion for reasons other than bladder cancer or those over 90 years old may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance patient decision-making and improve the quality of care for bladder cancer patients considering urinary diversion.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies focusing on decision-making in cancer care, this specific approach to urinary diversion decision-making is relatively novel.
