What this trial studies

This observational study aims to analyze the characteristics of carotid web lesions, which are rare but often lead to severe cerebral infarctions, particularly in the black population. By establishing a multicentric cohort, the study seeks to gather comprehensive data on the prevalence and features of carotid web lesions, as well as their impact on stroke outcomes. Patients will be selected from participating Stroke Units, and their clinical and imaging data will be collected and validated by expert neurologists and neuroradiologists. The goal is to improve diagnosis and treatment strategies for this condition.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who have imaging evidence of a carotid web and have experienced a cerebral infarction or transient ischemic attack.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old or those who oppose participation in the cohort will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better identification and management of carotid web lesions, potentially reducing the recurrence of ischemic strokes.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on carotid web lesions, the establishment of a multicentric cohort for this condition is a novel approach that has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
