Understanding cardiovascular ageing and its effects on health
TO-ChERIsH: Trajectory of Cardiovascular Ageing, Its Determinants and Impact on Health
This study looks at how aging affects heart health in older adults to see if certain biological markers can help us understand and improve their cardiovascular health.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to investigate the longitudinal changes in cardiovascular ageing among elderly individuals, focusing on how biological pathways influence these changes. It will assess the relationship between biological markers and the progression of cardiovascular ageing, as well as the impact of this progression on clinical cardiovascular disease and overall health. By collecting biospecimens and conducting cardiovascular tests, the study seeks to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy cardiovascular ageing and develop strategies to mitigate health burdens associated with ageing.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are elderly individuals aged 65 years and above who are residents of Singapore.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to provide informed consent or are younger than 21 years old may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved clinical guidelines and interventions that reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases in the elderly.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in understanding cardiovascular ageing, but this study aims to provide novel insights through a longitudinal approach.
