Understanding brain function in Hodgkin Lymphoma survivors
Cardiopulmonary Function and Cerebral Blood Flow in Hodgkin Lymphoma Survivors
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital · NCT06421987

What this trial studies
This research focuses on survivors of Hodgkin Lymphoma who were treated with chest radiation and bleomycin, aiming to explore the long-term effects of these treatments on brain function. Participants will undergo assessments using Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS), a non-invasive method to measure cerebral blood flow and oxygenation during exercise. The study will compare Hodgkin Lymphoma survivors with non-cancer controls matched for age, sex, race, and ethnicity to evaluate differences in brain function and CO2 clearance. The goal is to better understand the impact of cancer treatments on cognitive health in survivors.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include Hodgkin Lymphoma survivors who are at least 18 years old and have completed treatment at least two years prior.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of cranial irradiation, total-body irradiation, or certain cognitive impairments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the cognitive health of Hodgkin Lymphoma survivors, potentially leading to improved monitoring and interventions.
How similar studies have performed: While studies on cognitive effects in cancer survivors exist, this specific approach using NIRS in Hodgkin Lymphoma survivors is novel.
