What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on children and adolescents diagnosed with Sotos Syndrome (SS) and Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome (BWS), both of which are characterized by excessive growth and associated cognitive and behavioral challenges. The research aims to provide a detailed assessment of the neuropsychological and behavioral profiles of these individuals, utilizing various questionnaires and experimental tasks to gather data. By exploring the complexities of body representation and perception, the study seeks to fill existing gaps in knowledge regarding the developmental aspects of these syndromes. The findings could inform better support and interventions for affected individuals.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children and adolescents diagnosed with Sotos Syndrome or Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome.
Not a fit: Patients with severe motor and sensory deficits or those with neurological or psychiatric conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and support strategies for children with overgrowth syndromes, enhancing their developmental outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there has been some research on neuropsychological profiles in Sotos Syndrome, this study represents a novel investigation into the behavioral functioning of children with Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome.
