What this trial studies

This observational study aims to investigate the prevalence, clinical characteristics, and genetic variations associated with Autoimmune Polyglandular Syndrome Type II (APS II) in Taiwan. It focuses on patients who have been diagnosed with at least two of the following conditions: type 1 diabetes mellitus, autoimmune thyroid disease, and primary adrenal insufficiency. By analyzing data from patients treated at National Taiwan University Hospital between 2006 and 2021, the study seeks to enhance understanding of this autoimmune disorder. No interventions will be administered, as the study is purely observational.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients aged 20 and older who have been diagnosed with at least two of the specified autoimmune conditions.

Not a fit: Patients under the age of 20 will not benefit from this study as they are excluded from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve diagnosis and management strategies for patients with Autoimmune Polyglandular Syndrome Type II.

How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies on autoimmune syndromes, this specific focus on APS II in Taiwan is relatively novel and untested.
