What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the clinical spectrum and outcomes of children admitted to the pediatric emergency and intensive care units due to acute poisoning. It focuses on both accidental and intentional poisoning cases, particularly among different age groups, to identify common toxic agents and their effects. The study will collect data on patient demographics, types of poisoning, and clinical outcomes to better understand this significant health issue in children. By analyzing these cases, the study seeks to improve prevention and treatment strategies for acute poisoning in pediatric populations.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 1 month to 18 years who are admitted with suspected or confirmed acute poisoning.
Not a fit: Patients with chronic poisoning or those without a clear history of toxic exposure will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved management and prevention strategies for acute poisoning in children, ultimately reducing morbidity and mortality.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in understanding acute poisoning in pediatric populations, indicating that this approach is supported by existing literature.
