What this trial studies

This observational study evaluates the use of ultrasound to assess entheseal sites in patients diagnosed with seronegative spondyloarthropathy, with or without fibromyalgia. The focus is on understanding the inflammation at the sites where tendons and ligaments attach to bones, which is a key feature of these conditions. Patients who meet specific classification criteria will be included, and the study aims to gather data on the effectiveness of ultrasound imaging in identifying these pathological changes. The findings could enhance the understanding of disease progression and treatment responses in affected individuals.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years old who meet the ASAS classification criteria for Axial Spondyloarthritis.

Not a fit: Patients with other rheumatologic or collagen diseases, or those outside the specified age range, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve diagnostic accuracy and management strategies for patients with spondyloarthropathy and fibromyalgia.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in using ultrasound for assessing enthesitis in similar patient populations, indicating a potential for success in this approach.
