Ultrasonication treatment for hand arthritis

Ultrasonication-mediated Microbubbles Dressings Increase the Therapeutic Efficacy of Piroxicam Gel for Hand Arthritis: Assessments Using Conventional and Ultrafast Power Doppler Imaging

NA · National Taiwan University · NCT06913088

What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of ultrasonication-mediated microbubbles dressing in treating hand arthritis in adults. Participants will receive either the ultrasonication-mediated microbubbles dressing combined with piroxicam gel, ultrasonication with piroxicam gel, or piroxicam gel alone over a week. The study will assess whether the ultrasonication-mediated approach enhances the therapeutic effects of the medication. Participants will also keep a diary of their symptoms and return for follow-up visits to monitor their progress.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults diagnosed with hand arthritis who have at least three symptomatic joints.

Not a fit: Patients with infectious arthritis or acute gout may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could provide a more effective option for managing pain and improving function in patients with hand arthritis.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of ultrasonication-mediated microbubbles dressing is novel, similar studies using ultrasonication techniques have shown promise in other applications.
