What this trial studies

The project uses a standardized translation and cultural adaptation process to produce a Turkish NEFI (NEFI-TR), including two independent forward translations, reconciliation by a multidisciplinary committee, and independent back-translation. An expert committee will review items for semantic, idiomatic, experiential, and conceptual equivalence, with optional cognitive debriefing interviews with adults with spinal cord injury to check clarity and relevance. Final revisions, proofreading, and full documentation of decisions will be completed, aiming to finalize the NEFI-TR within one month.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 16 and older who live in Turkey, can read and understand Turkish, have a history of spinal cord injury, and are clinically stable enough to complete questionnaires are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: People fully recovered from their spinal cord injury, those with severe cognitive or communication impairments, or anyone judged by investigators to be unable to participate would likely not benefit from this effort.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, patients could have a validated Turkish questionnaire that better captures environmental factors affecting life after spinal cord injury, supporting improved care planning and research.

How similar studies have performed: Cross-cultural translations and content-validity processes for patient-reported measures are common and have often produced reliable localized instruments, so the method is well-established though results depend on execution.
