What this trial studies

The study will translate and culturally adapt the Generic Functional Index into Turkish using a standard protocol of forward translation, expert committee review, back-translation, and pilot testing. Adults with musculoskeletal disorders will be recruited at Istanbul Bilgi University to complete the adapted questionnaire and comparator measures. Psychometric testing will include test-retest reliability, internal consistency, and construct validity analyses, including correlation with the Functional Independence Measure. Results will determine whether the Turkish version is reliable and shows expected relationships with established functional measures.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults (18+) who can read Turkish, are cognitively able to complete questionnaires, and have a non-acute musculoskeletal disorder.

Not a fit: People with acute functional impairment, cognitive impairment, or mental or physical conditions that prevent understanding the scale are unlikely to benefit from participating.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, clinicians and researchers in Turkey will have a reliable Turkish tool to measure daily functioning and guide rehabilitation for people with musculoskeletal conditions.

How similar studies have performed: Similar translation and validation projects for functional instruments typically report good reliability and validity, and prior language adaptations of comparable functional indices have generally shown acceptable psychometric properties.
