What this trial studies
This observational project adapts and validates the "Prevention of Toxic Chemicals in the Environment for Children" questionnaire for Turkish-speaking parents and prospective parents. Literate adults will complete the survey at the Istanbul University–Cerrahpasa site in Avcılar, and responses will be analyzed for reliability and validity. Psychometric methods will likely include internal consistency, test–retest reliability, and construct/content validity checks. The goal is to produce a culturally appropriate, reliable measurement tool to gauge parental knowledge and attitudes about environmental toxicants.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Literate adults who are parents or planning to become parents and can read Turkish and consent to participate are ideal candidates.
Not a fit: People who are illiterate, do not read Turkish, or are not parents/prospective parents are unlikely to benefit from participating.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the tool could help identify gaps in parental knowledge so public health programs can better target education to reduce children’s exposure to toxic chemicals.
How similar studies have performed: Similar parental knowledge and attitude questionnaires have been translated and validated in other languages and generally demonstrate acceptable reliability after cultural adaptation.
