What this trial studies

This clinical trial evaluates the effectiveness of salicylic acid wart patches in treating common and plantar warts, which are benign skin lesions caused by the human papilloma virus. The study aims to recruit participants who have at least one wart, measuring up to 1 cm in diameter, and are at least 6 years old. Participants will apply the patches to the affected area to assess the treatment's efficacy in reducing wart size and alleviating associated discomfort. The trial is conducted at the Dr Kowalska Clinic in Miechów, Małopolskie.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 6 years and older with at least one common or plantar wart up to 1 cm in diameter.

Not a fit: Patients with hypersensitivity to salicylic acid, renal impairment, or existing skin conditions at the application site may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could provide a non-invasive and effective option for patients suffering from painful and psychologically distressing warts.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that salicylic acid is an effective treatment for warts, indicating that this approach is supported by existing evidence.
