What this trial studies

This clinical trial investigates the safety and efficacy of combining pulsed radiofrequency neuromodulation with leukocyte-rich platelet-rich plasma injections for patients suffering from refractory low back pain due to multifidus dysfunction. Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving the experimental treatment alongside physiotherapy, and the other receiving standard physical therapy alone. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of the new treatment approach in alleviating pain and improving muscle function. The primary outcomes will focus on pain relief and functional improvement over a specified period.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals experiencing refractory low back pain due to multifidus dysfunction for more than six months.

Not a fit: Patients who have had spinal surgery within the last year or are currently on systemic steroids or immunosuppressive medications may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could provide significant pain relief and improved function for patients with chronic low back pain.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on this specific combination of treatments, similar approaches using RF neuromodulation and PRP have shown promise in other studies.
